The Bielski Partisans Rescue Mission

The Bielski Partisans Rescue Mission

Tuvia Bielski

A Polish-Jewish resistance leader who led the Bielski partisans based in the Naliboki Forest of western Belarus during World War II. Amid escalating Nazi persecution and the Holocaust under German occupation, he prioritized not only taking up arms to fight German forces and collaborators, but also actively protecting Jewish refugees, including women, children, and the elderly. At its peak, over 1,200 Jews survived under the group's protection, making the Bielski partisans a prominent resistance organization that combined Jewish rescue with armed combat.
