Paul Klee in WWII
Paul Klee
A Swiss-born German painter and printmaker who defined the 20th century. Influenced by Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, and abstract art, he created works that uniquely combined line, color, geometric form, symbols, and musical composition. Using a wide range of techniques including watercolor, oil, drawing, and printmaking, he is said to have produced over 10,000 works in his lifetime. At the Bauhaus, he taught alongside Wassily Kandinsky and others, becoming a vital figure as a theorist of modern art.
