John Nance Garner

John Nance Garner was an American politician from Texas who served as the 44th Speaker of the House and the 32nd Vice President of the United States under Franklin D. Roosevelt. Affectionately known as "Cactus Jack," he wielded formidable legislative control. During the "First 100 Days" of the Great Depression, he steered numerous New Deal bills through Congress. Although he later broke with the administration as a conservative opposing labor policies and a third presidential term, he heavily supported America's crisis response from the legislative side.
