George C. Marshall Leadership

George Catlett Marshall Jr.

An American military leader, politician, and diplomat. As Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army during World War II, he led military expansion and strategic planning, making vast contributions to Allied victory. Post-war, as Secretary of State, he proposed the European recovery program known as the "Marshall Plan," driving the reconstruction of the West in the early Cold War. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953, establishing himself as a defining figure in 20th-century American diplomatic and military history.
