W.E.B. Du Bois's civil rights legacy
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was an American sociologist, historian, and civil rights pioneer born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. As a co-founder of the NAACP in 1909 and editor of The Crisis, he championed Pan-Africanism, full political equality, and higher education for African Americans. In his later years during the Cold War, he continued advocating for global anti-colonialism, peace, and universal human rights.
