Konrad Adenauer

Konrad Adenauer

Konrad Adenauer

German politician. After World War II, he established the democratic state system of West Germany, promoted economic recovery, and strengthened relations with Western nations. He advanced reconciliation with France and European integration, and is evaluated as one of the architects of the foundation of the European Union. On the other hand, under the Cold War, he prioritized integration into the Western bloc, placing greater importance on West Germany's security and the establishment of its international status rather than the reunification of East and West Germany.
